Is Youtube censoring and oppressing artists?
March 9th, 2010
Our last film contained mild violence based on a kidnap scene going wrong. Our main character got tied to a chair and slapped about 3 times, yes, slapped, not hit, no nudity, no raping…
As actors and film producers we made sure that nobody would get hurt on the film. The girl was not really taped or tied, and certainly never really slapped (editing and camera angles are used for that).
This was meant to be a cruel build up to raise the hate for the kidnapper, who turns out to be a loser.
We got a few thousand views, which some of them I believe liked bondage, we never intended to do any bondage scene. On the contrary, there was nothing sexual about this film.
Still someone flagged the video and now they removed it, no proper explanation, no chance to claim our right as filmmakers, no nothing.
Not even blocked in a particular country, not even the chance to put age rating due to the mild violence.

New Year – New Projects
January 5th, 2010
First of all, happy New Year to all! We wish you an amazing and successful year full of nice surprises and great happenings.
We are slowly recovering from the New Year’s celebrations and looking to work on our next projects. Which projects? Still unclear, we have a few scripts and more material to be filmed, so stay tuned and you will see.
In the mean time you can watch our latest, and most ambitious project until date. This is our first music video that we created for the New Yorker artist Eedem.
For this project we moved away from the pure comedy and tried something different and more surreal, if possible.
Enjoy 2010!
Review – Making Short Films
December 14th, 2009
When you’re eager to make something and you aren’t afraid of failure you can just start doing whatever that something is. In my case, I’m eager to create films and act in them.
But I know that having a strong desire it’s not enough, so among other things I wanted to document myself about the film making process. I did some research and read several books about acting, and some other documents about directing and creating scripts. Still I missed the full practical advice and instructions required to make a short film.
There are lots of choices out there. I did quite some research reading reviews until I bought Making Short Films by Clifford Thurlow.
Party Overtoom 301, the result
December 2nd, 2009
Saturday, November 21st marked an evening to remember at Overtoom 301. With 1 studio, 3 DJs, 1 café, 2 screens, 5 films, 10 actors, 5 scenes, many Mojitos, 200 fans, family and friends and dancing until the wee hours of the morning, the former squat now art venue became our inaugural stage for a successful Backlash night.
By 5pm the day of, we had effectively prepared all needed to throw a good party: created and distributed flyers, reserved the space, DJs, bought the booze, finished the films and rehearsed the scenes. The day went much quicker than anticipated, but after a walkthrough we established lights, music and cast cues, intros, exits and a schedule … order out of chaos and rested on the 7th day. It was time and in the air lingered a nervous excitement for what was about to unfold. “What are we doing?”

Introducing: The Backflop series
November 23rd, 2009
Finally, our first project is well on its way. The Backflop series compiles all the comedy sketches that came from the enthusiasm, experience, and dedication from Backlash.
Backflop is a revitalization of the real spirit of the comedy sketch. This series style is greatly inspired by the Monty Python’s Flying Circus with the addition of what new technologies, less budget, and an international view of the world offer.

Backlash is more than comedy, it’s more than film, it’s more than theatre, overall it’s more than anyone can imagine!
For all these reasons we have created a brand new section Backflop.
Check it out!
